Elwood Davidson, 82 , died at his home in Hillsboro at 7 p.m. Friday, March 3, 1961. He was born July 17, 1878, a son of John and Mary Keller Davidson. He was married in 1907 to Ethel Chester who survives. The couple observed their golden wedding anniv in 1957. They had resided in the same home since marriage. He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church. He formerly operated an electrical appliance store, retiring in 1953. Prior to that he was employed by the Hillsboro Telephone Co for 24 years. He was the last survivor of his family. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Crumley Funeral Home with Rev. Homer M. Cole officiating assisted by Rev. John Coil, local pastor. Rev. Cole was former pastor of Christian Church and is now serving at LaFontaine, Ind. The organist was Mary Louise Newman. The pallbearers were great nephews, Robert Bennett, New paris, Ohio; Vernon EMerick, New Madison, Ohio; Dr. Samuel Eitnier, Danville, Ind; Gerald Eitnier, Hillsboro; Gene Chester, Indianapolis and Kenneth Chester of Newtown. Hillsboro - Elwood Davidson, 82 year old retired businessman died at 7 p.m. Friday at his home here. He had been seriously ill the past 4 weeks. Born July 17, 1878, at Newtown, he was a son of John and Mary Keller Dvaidson. He married June 26, 1907 to Ethel Chester. They were married at Newtown but lived their entire married life here. Mr. and Mrs. Davidson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1957. Mr. Davidson operated an electrical appliance store here for a number of years before retiring in 1953. He was also associated with the Hillsboro Telephone Company for 24 years. He was a member of the EUB Church. Mrs. Davidson is a correspondent for the Journal-Review. Mr. Davidson who was the last of a large family is survived by his wife and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Crumley Funeral Home here with Rev. Homer Cole of LaFontaine in charge. He will be assisted by the Rev. John Coil of Waynetown. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery here. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening.
